Comments Regarding the Furry Community I'm extremely pleased with how you guys put considerable thought in what you typed. It's interesting to read your comments and share what you like and don't like about the furry community. I'm also happy you all kept things at an intelligent level rather than attacking people with different or opposing opinions. This is a summary of what I got out of all of them at this time:
Much of the people here and the one's I've talked to perceive the community under a positive light. I feel that the small sample of the demographic consist of people like what they are doing and/or are fully committed into to concept of being a furry. The community makes wonderful works and appreciates a variety of high quality media that tackles the concept of anthropomorphic animals. This is evidence of our ability to have a strong affinity with and celebrate other forms of life, which have continued throughout the ages in all sorts of cultures. Role-playing as such characters is common as a means for fun or for an escape, thus fursonas are created. The people here have a feeling of pride that glues them all together. Some more reserved than others.
Despite this, just as many people think of the community in a neutral sense. They acknowledge the good from it but do consider the less savory elements of the fandom or just don't really care as it doesn't influence them nor is relevant. Those that are involved do enjoy much of the artwork, literature, movies and so on, but distance themselves due to the particular subsect that have lacking qualities, pornographic material, or do not like the implications of carrying a furry title. These people hold the fandom under a critical eye wary of its questionable moral standards.
I'm aware of certain individuals within the fandom do have a problem with online social skills. When facing a different opinion relating furry concepts, reactions can be arrogant, ignorant, or even hostile while refusing to consider why that opinion was made. Some individuals exude their animalistic presence to a point where they can appear unhinged. Creative works and activities can be very explicit and is very known within and outside of the community. Because of this, negative feedback and ridicule exists and weighs heavily on the rest of the community.
In the end, the poll was fairly successful. I got to know some of my audience and where they stand with the subject and I learned more about the furry fandom that exists as of now. However, the positives and negatives of the furry fandom discussed can really be applied to any fandom in general with some differences here and there. It really boils down to the behavior of humans. There will always be the bad that takes things down only to have the good bring it up.
I'm not an expert on the subject at all like this guy :
As I currently stand, I am neutral towards it.
How about a Livestream? After an engaging chat with Serge-Salvatrice yesterday, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in watching me do a livestream? From there you guys can share your thoughts and have a few laughs as I attempt to create some doodles live. I'm still figuring out which site to do it on. Right now I'm caught between Justin.tv and livestream.com. I like both services, but I'd like a second opinion from you guys as I have a terrible lack of knowledge of livestreaming sites. I've been practicing offline using Open Broadcaster Software as I sketch and do a let's playthrough, though the sound quality from my mic is poor. However, I'm confident enough to do one, the question is where and when?
